A well-made wine is a well-made wine.
We, the Straight Up drinkers of the world, do not believe wine must be made with certain prescribed grapes. Wine, when well made, is a delight of nature – no matter the grape from which it comes.
As Benjamin Franklin said, “Wine makes daily living easier, less hurried, with fewer tensions and more tolerance.”
You had me at fewer tensions – who couldn’t use some of that?
Or, as scientist Louis Pasteur said, “Wine is the most healthful and most hygienic of beverages.”
Now, we are not claiming that Straight Up will cure leprosy – but it might make you forget it for a while.
But you must be careful not to overdo it.
Homer, the Greek poet said, “It is the wine that leads me on, the wild wine that sets the wisest man to sing at the top of his lungs, laugh like a fool—it drives the man to dancing… it even tempts him to blurt out stories better never told.”
And as Galileo once said, “Wine is sunlight, held together by water.”
And so it is with Straight Up. We don’t try to be fancy. There is no way a Muscadine or a Concord wine will impress a wine snob – we just try to be delicious.
We hope you enjoy our efforts.
